31 Days of Horror: Day 3- Others On a Similar Journey

While I have fun on my 31 Day journey, I also enjoy following all of the others who do similar events.

Let's start with the Horror Writers Association. We are running 2 series right now. The first tis the Latinx Horror which is running September 15-October 15. And then there is the tradition 31 Days of Halloween Haunts.

The Halloween Haunts series, like mine, is edited by a single person and consists of curated entries by our members. What I love about it is that the series offers many perspectives on the genre from practitioners. I also like that it is organized. Members have to submit by a certain date and the posts are edited. The editor then lays the series out with thought. It is a useful but still ecclectic.

HWA member and bestselling author Daniel Kraus has put himself through #31horrorfilms31days for many years now. You can follow him or the hashtag of others doing the same thing. What I like about Daniel's journey is he is very methodical while still having a lot of fun. He makes a list and plans it out. He reports on all of it. And he doesn't repeat movies. It is a great follow whether you are a Horror movie fan or not.

Book Riot, one of our Summer Scares sponsors, not only has regular Horror coverage for all ages of readers, but they also up their game in October and will be having additional posts and coverage all month long.

And finally, I love to explore Twitter to see what else is happening on the October themed hashtags. Every year I find someone new to follow or a new resource I didn't know about. Whether or not you have a Twitter login you can explore these too:

October is the time to explore the full breadth of content and resources in the Horror world and then store them up for the next 11 months, when people still want to read Horror. The resources are always there, lurking in the background waiting for another October to come when they can spread their black wings in the spotlight. You just nee to know their hiding spots.
