Four Pillars of Zombie Popularity

My collegues over at the YALSA blog have dissescted the popularity of zombie fiction and broken it down into 4 reasons why the books are so appealing:
  1. A Convenient Apocalypse
  2. Braaaaiins With Brains
  3. Romance Repellent (Mostly)
  4. The Zombie in the Mirror
For each "Pillar" they write why this fact makes zombie books so appealing.  Then they offer a reading suggestion, one with zombies and one with the same appeal but no zombies, for each "Pillar."  Now these are all YA books and I tend to focus on adult titles, but their reasoning and descriptions are spot on.  This can be applied across the board to any zombie book.

    That is a really interesting article. As a zombie fan, I hope the attempt to turn them into romantic characters is extremely unsuccessful. They rot! They eat flesh!
